  Lower Pottsgrove’s engineers report they’re making progress in discussions over repairs to a Sunnybrook Road bridge.
• Trout Stocking Begins March 21
  Park visitors later this month can help prepare French Creek for the start of the fishing season.

  Lower Pottsgrove’s county and township tax bills are arriving in this week’s mail. Be kind to your letter carriers nonetheless; it’s not their fault.

  Sunday’s best bet: free Charter Day admission to Pennsylvania historic sites like the Daniel Boone Homestead in nearby Birdsboro. Besides that: a play, a bird watch, an antique gun show, and chess king Bobby Fischer’s birthday.
• Local Reps Want Census Bureau Separate
  Congressmen representing Lower Pottsgrove and Limerick are advocating that federal head-counting be conducted by a stand-alone agency.
• Chamber, OSHA Form Partnership
  The TriCounty Chamber of Commerce and the federal agency that oversees workplace safety team up to offer training sessions for local employers and their workers.
• Hawthorne Joins Energy Alliance
  Lower Pottsgrove’s township manager has joined a statewide coalition that promotes the use of nuclear energy.

• Board OKs Earth Hour, Uniquely
  Lower Pottsgrove commissioners Monday endorsed Earth Hour later this month, and pledged to individually participate. As for how the township can be involved, well, they had an idea on that also.
• The Wealthy Are Clueless Too
  PNC Bank interviewed well-to-do Americans (maybe you were among the chosen few?) and found 33 percent of them don’t know much about planning for their future.
• Low-Cost Energy Loans Available
  Pennsylvania is expanding a $16 million loan program for energy-efficient home improvements. Lower Pottsgrove households can qualify.
• College Opens Observatory Free
  See the stars March 9 through the telescopes at Montgomery County Community College.

• Township Signs Deal With Verizon
  Lower Pottsgrove board Chairman Bruce Foltz put pen to paper Monday. The company’s fiber optic television services could be available to some households later this summer.

  In a formal ceremony at the municipal building, a new member of Lower Pottsgrove’s finest swore his oath.
• Fire Volunteers Train For Hazards
  Members of the Sanatoga and Ringing Hill companies this week are learning how to deal with hazardous materials and conditions.
• Monday Was A Day To Stay Indoors
  Up to 7 inches of snow arrived Monday in some parts of Lower Pottsgrove, along with biting cold and howling winds. Pass the hot chocolate, please, and set up the Monopoly board.
• Historical Society Meets March 11
  It’s the first gathering of 2009 for Lower Pottsgrove history lovers. The public’s invited.
